This is what we used to get to the race track. Oma had
a GMC
Suburban, pulling a double deck formula car trailer.

This was a customer's tow setup, Fred Stiff had a
tricked out,
custom Chevy van and a single axle trailer to tow his C Sedan Datsun.
This
van was of the era where it could sport a bumper sticker, "If this
van's
a rockin, don't come a knockin" It was a good driving vehicle, I spent
many hours behind the wheel.

This is Fred, out on the track on the main straight,
just in
front of his pit. (were I was when I had the time to take this
picture).
The air intake to feed cooler air to the driver. It was a last minute,
adhoc, addition. It was a hot summer that year in upstate NY.

Fred Stiff's C Sedan Datsun, after the one time he got
into
a wreck. What was really amazing, we were able to get this car back
together
in one week's time. A-Pillar forward was new by then.

This was John's "B" car when he first brought it and
came to
Chapel Hill Racing for race preparation. After a good going
over
and adding his paint scheme it looked great, see below. I learned that
most formula cars, like this March F Atlantic, look like this most the
time. The only time they are fully assembled is when they are on the
race
track.

Another neat car we race prepared. This was a
customer's
1978 Van Diemen Formula Ford. Again, these were always apart, being
tweaked,
setup.

A real cool thing to do,
really. The
center section is a variant of the Volkswagen Beetle transaxle.

The Chapel Hill Racing Team, in our Sunday Team
Shirts,
is Rich, Robert with his back to the camera, and the driver Oma. We are
just hanging out under the shade of the tent. A beautiful day,
sunshine,
just BS'ing with other competitors.

This is the start of the race, Oma is in the second
row, inside
row. The pace car is just entering the pit lane.
